 1916 May 23rdFr.Alphonse Called for eternal rest and is buried in the Church.

 1919 His Grace Most Rev. Angel Mary, the then Metropolitan Archbishop of Verapoly, brought Munnar Church under the jurisdiction of the Parish at Alwaye and appointed Fr. Mathias, the Vicar co-operator of Aluva, having special charge over the Munnar Mission

 1920 Fr. Blasius built the present parish rectory, from which time priests began to live in Munnar region for their Mission Works.

 1924 Fr. Salucianus, /vicar co-operator constructed a shrine in the heart of Munnar town and dedicated to St. Antony of Padua.

 In 1924, a flood swept through Munnar, damaged the road and destroyed the rail track. When it came to the foot of St. Antony’s Shrine in the town the flood subsided and it is believed even today that St. Antony has done a miracle to save Munn. Since then Novena to St. .Antony is prayed every Tuesdays for which people of all denominations, Christians, Hindus and Muslims participate even to-date. Special mention may be made that every year the procession from the Hindu Temple Sri SubramanyaSwamy Temple, Munnar has a halt at the shrine of St. Antony and the people make special homage.

 1925 Conversion to Catholic Church increased day by day and therefore, the Church could not contain the faithful. Hence the Church was renovated increasing its length by 30 feet.

 On 14th July, 1930 through the Apostolic Bull Ad Nomen Christi of Holy Father Pope Pius XI, the Diocese of Vijayapuram was erected, bifurcating the south-eastern territories of the Archdiocese of Verapoly, with Kottayam as its headquarters. Msgr. Bonaventure Arana, OCD the then Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Verapoly was consecrated as the first Bishop of the Diocese. Munnar Mission became part of the Diocese of Vijayapuram.

 1934 April 17 Foundation stone laid for a bigger church as the number of the faithful increased through conversion and migration.

 1938 January 21 The new Church was blessed and consecrated by His Excellency Rt.Rev. Dr. Bonaventura Arana OCD, the first Bishop of Vijayapuram.

 1943 February 5 Munnar church was raised to the status of Parish with Rev. Fr. Blasius OCD as the first Parish Priest.

 1950 on the 11th of June, Msgr. Ambrose Abasolo OCD, a professor in the St Joseph Pontifical Seminary, Aluva, was appointed as the second Bishop of the Diocese of Vijayapuram.

 1957 to 1966 Fr Marian OCD was appointed the Parish Priest of Munnar. He was the last of the Spanish Carmelite Missionaries of the Region.

 1966 Fr. Augustine Pinheiro was appointed the first indigenous parish priest of Mount Carmel Church Munnar.

 1988 Fr. Joseph M.de Almaida was appointed as the Parish Priest in place of Fr. Augustine Pinheiro. He initiated the Munnar Christian Association (MCA) as the ecumenical movement with all Christian Churches and Ecclesial Communities in Munnar. He also formed and trained the Basic Christian Community (BCCs). In order to accommodate pilgrims and tourists he renovated Carmel Bhavan.

 1998 was the Centennial Year of Mount Carmel Church Munnar. During this period Rev. Fr. Joseph Nedunilath organized renewal retreats, in the Church, in the substations and in Estate Layams and sent faithful to retreat centres as a spiritual preparation of centennial celebrations. A band of the faithful including youth and religious sisters was formed to guide the retreats.

 Rev. Fr. Jose Kadanthuruthel (2005-2010) installed the first class relics of St. Antony of Padua. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Mathew Villukulam (2011-16) started a Bible College to promote biblical studies and theology with the help of professors from the Pontifical Institute Alwaye. He rebuilt the St. Antony’s Shrine in the town in a Romanesque style and Started perpetual adoration in the Shrine. Rev. Fr.
